An experience for the
Connoisseur Traveler. If you don’t want to miss anything
and want to see it all, then this is your tour.
Start with a journey back in
time 100 years ago when the city of Los Mochis was founded
by the North American entrepreneur Benjamin Johnston, who
built the largest sugarcane empire on the American continent. Visit Mr. Johnston's private botanical gardens which are now
the Sinaloa Botanical Gardens. They were designed by the
same architect that built the "Gone with the Wind" movie
sets and landscapes. In season, you can taste real sugar
cane.
Then experience a beautiful
real life working Mexican mango
plantation. Try the complimentary
mango ice cream, and take an informal "cooking class"
helping out the Mexican ladies on the hacienda making corn
tortillas by hand, making beans and making fresh farmer’s
cheese. After you "make" them, of course you get the
opportunity to try them out.
Next head for
the colonial town of El Fuerte
founded in the year 1564, by Spanish conquistadors.
According to legend and local folklore tales, this is where
the real "Zorro" Diego de La Vega, was born. See his statue and the old mansion-museum
that took 100 kilos of gold to construct:
Hotel Posada del Hidalgo. Savor a tasty
BBQ buffet-style lunch; tap your feet to the Mexican
folkloric dances and stroll through the picturesque plaza,
the governor’s palace, the church and the 18th century
mansions on an historic walking tour. This is a journey back
in time to the old romantic Mexico of the 17th & 18th
century.
